Developer API Beta

Note: The Developer API is in beta, so things may change with it with little notice. While there is no plan to change the current structure of the API, we may add additional data to the feed. Also, if the API causes performance problems for the web site, we reserve the right to temporarily suspend the API until we can resolve the problem.

All of the data for Bongo is copyrighted by the University of Iowa, the City of Iowa City and/or the City of Coralville and is not permitted to be used in a commercial application.

One of the primary reasons that Bongo is useful for the residents of the Iowa City metro area is that all three transit agencies participated in the system. Following that key covenant of Bongo, the Bongo API includes information for all three transit agencies together.

Questions about the Bongo API can be sent to e-bongo@live.com.

Formats

The Bongo API can be retrieved in a number of different formats. These are XML, JSON and JSONP. The default format is XML, so if you do not pass a format parameter, you will receive XML back. To get JSON or JSONP, pass the format parameter in the URL. For example, if you wanted to get the route list in JSON, you would enter http://ebongo.org/api/routelist?format=json.
